Not in the Book

We are still on track for a mid February delivery to our doors, then we will begin shipping them out to you.   These last few weeks will hopefully go by quickly as we eagerly anticipate holding the final product in our hands.

In the meantime here's a quick bit of info that didn't make it into the book.  The image itself is in the book, so don't worry.  The image above, completed by artist Joel Boucquemont, is a "Loading Screen" and contains a billboard of a young lady in some sort of advertisement.

The model in the image is none other than Daniel Cabuco's wife. Daniel, as you know, contributed a ton of art work to Legend and Anniversary. Incidentally, his wife's name is Kim and yes, we did ask him if we could mention this.

Here's a snapshot of the in-game image provided by Sermongar.
Very cool. Thanks!

Now does anyone know what the advertisement says?

That's a cool bit of trivia! I love finding out all the behind-the-scenes stuff like that, that I never knew before. Since as you say that info doesn't appear in the book itself, thanks for posting it here!

I realized that woman, but never knew it could be her.

When the next standard edition newsletter?, since I realized my gmail blocked the previous one, and I´m worried if I´m not included, I pre ordered last summer.

Here is the ingame screenshot requested:

I just can't even think of anything to say really. LOL Still super excited, still can't wait, even more so now that it's so close.

Steffan, I´m really worried, in that adress you told me, no one is replying my contact email :s And the shipping time is near, I never read newsletter, and don´t know if it´s because my gmail acount filtrer as spam (some other fan told me the same), or it´s because it´s a mistake with my order, I think it was around 40 euros for to pre order. When a new normal edition newsletter? so I can check if I get.

Sorry for the hassle. Pre-orders were done through PayPal, so you should have received a receipt in email from them. If you have that, then you have a book guaranteed in your name. Also you can check your PayPal account, or credit card by looking through you transactions.

Good to know, and even better I kept the receipt email (I normally discard them once I confirm they're on the bill). It's February already, can't wait! *_*

Something should go out by the end of the week or first of next week.

I've got a PayPal invoice from D&V Press. However, it is on standard book not Lettered Edition. Should I wait for another one invoice?

Steffan Schulz said...

Standby, we are communicating about this.

Very interesting!

I have paid the remaining amount yesterday so all I have to do is wait. As the saying goes, all good things come to those who wait. I'm positive that the wait will be worth it. Being a Tomb Raider obsessive, words simply cannot express my excitement for this book! (Warm-Smile)

Hi Steffan…

It's been a while since I've written, so I hope you are doing well.

Regarding the Japanese text in the advertisement, the enlargement you posted only shows about half the text. The complete text is:

                           彼の心をキャッチ!
                                        o r
                      Kano kokoro wo kyacchi!

In English, that translates as:
          "Catch with his heart!"

However, I have a feeling Daniel was actually trying to write:
          "Caught with his heart!"

My guess is that he used Google Translate to translate his words into Japanese. Unfortunately, the current gen of web-based translators still have a difficult time interpreting the proper sentence structure of Asian languages such as Japanese, Chinese, etc. Not to mention that each kanji character can have vastly different meanings depending on usage, placement, feeling, etc. But considering the difficulties, they still do an admirable job of it…

Well, hope that solves the mystery for you!

In the meantime. congratulations on completing the TR book — my eyes cannot wait to see what treasures are hidden within its pages!

Take care!

Jeff,

Thanks for the clarification! I wonder if it was a sentiment to his wife or some reference to another character in the game. I'll see if I can get an answer.

Jeff said...

Hmmm…

Something tells me it's a sentiment to Daniel's wife. In fact, that something is my wife Paula, who is saying it has to be a sentiment to his wife… more specifically, "for his sake, it had better be" (she says with an evil grin).

As a woman, Paula seems to feel that if a sentiment like that were placed on her picture, it was best if it didn't refer to some other woman.

However, as an actress, she also stated that as long as she received proper guild compensation, her picture could be used for any purpose and with any text.

There you go… two valid opposing reactions from a woman's perspective.

So what does that really tell us? That I need to get her to stop looking over my shoulder at times when I'm using the laptop.

Some great info on the background to that poster featured in TRL.

Can wait to get this book, I must keep telling myself "just sit tight a wait patiently" :)
